About Us

Jewelry with a story

Based in Paola, Kansas since 2020, All About Time & The Turquoise Room is a small family-owned jewelry and collectibles business of just three people. We believe beautiful pieces of history, craftsmanship and artistry should be enjoyed by everyone.

Our collection runs from timeless vintage pieces to contemporary fine jewelry, with authentic Native American-made jewelry at its heart. We source many vintage pieces from local and Midwest sellers, and we bring the collection to shows, events and markets across the Midwest.

Authentic

Every piece by Joe Hijoe Jr. is 100% Navajo made. We also tell you whether each stone is natural, stabilized or composite, and the mine when it's known.

Timeless

Squash blossoms, cuffs and bolo ties have been worn for generations. We carry designs that look as right in fifty years as they do today.

Built to Last

Heavy-gauge sterling, solid bezels, and clean solder work. We check the construction on every piece, and we can help with sizing and repairs.

Know Your Stone

Where turquoise comes from

The mine shapes the stone. Color, the web of matrix running through it, and hardness all vary by source. These are some of the American mines collectors ask about most.

Sleeping Beauty

Arizona

Clear sky blue with little or no matrix.

Kingman

Arizona

Bright blue, often with dark or silvery matrix.

Royston

Nevada

Blue through green, often in the same stone, with brown matrix.

Number 8

Nevada

Golden-brown to black spiderweb matrix.

Lone Mountain

Nevada

Deep blue with fine dark spiderweb.

Softer than you think

Turquoise rates about 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, softer than quartz. That's why good settings and gentle care matter.

Caring for your turquoise

Wear

Put jewelry on last, after lotion, perfume and hairspray. Oils and chemicals can change the stone's color over time.

Water

Take it off to swim, shower or wash dishes. Turquoise is porous and chlorine is hard on it.

Clean

Wipe the silver with a soft polishing cloth. Keep dips and ultrasonic cleaners away from the stone.

Store

Keep each piece in its own pouch, away from harder gems that can scratch it.
